When I was a little girl, I was... weird. There is no other way to put it. I would read books days on end, until the age of 7 I hadn't spoken to any of my classmates when it wasn't necessary and I would create fantasy worlds tirelessly. Books where my world, my fuel. Anyone remember the 'Artemis Fowl' books? And the sentences at the bottom of the pages in an unknown language in the first book? Together with a translated letter in the book and a lot of common sense, I was able to translate more than half the book. Might not be a very remarkable thing, but I was nine. I would spin the large curtains in my room around me, as if I was transported to a place far away from home where I could read and translate. Yep, I could read 3 books a day, without any disturbance in concentration.
This changed remarkably when I hit puberty. I was lucky to had read as much as I had, in both the English and the Dutch language, when I was as young as I was, because I feel like that was the period that I've learned the most until now. All my English language knowledge I probably have to that thank to that. Anyways, now I've recovered all clean and fresh from those uncomfortable and confusing years, I'm ready to read again. I guess not the science fiction and fantasy stuff that I used to love, but more serious and mature books so to say. Not that fantasy isn't mature, but you get my point :).
I've written down some books that I still want to read, or that I've begun reading. Just to give you some inspiration or to exchange opinions!
I've talked about this book before in a post and I still want to read it for the same reason: How the hell do you earn your spot in Public Relations? |
It's readable and it's hot. What other reason does there need to be? If I'm right it will be delivered today, can't wait... |
Seriously the funniest book I've ever read. Nearly every sentence makes me laugh out loud. This is the funniest boy out there for sure. |
Classic anyone? Plus, the amount of Anna Karenina references in Gilmore Girls has made me want to read this for years. |
I'm currently reading this one, and I really like it so far. It's been a while since I last read it, so I'll probably start over during my holiday. |
This is one of those hyped books with a story that makes me curious and that promises to be an interesting read. |
Kind of the same as with Life of Pi, just need to reed. Curious! |
And that's about it. I'll be reading these for sure, rather sooner than later. I'll probably get a lot of reading done during my holiday next week. I'll let you now what I think and post some reviews if you like!
For your information, 50 Shades of Grey just dropped on my door mat. I'll keep you posted :).
Love,
